Hotchpot is a mobile application that enables sharing of books among users. Books are physically shared by the Borrower and Lender. They carry out the transaction using the Hotchpot mobile application.
Your privacy is important to Hotchpot, and the personal information that you provide to us, and that we otherwise gather about you, is vital to us because it allows us to provide you with our Hotchpot services (defined below) and make your experience as safe and secure. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect the information that we have about you. It also describes how you can access and update the personal information you provide to us, and make certain choices about how your information may be used.
This Privacy Policy applies for any way you may access and/or contact Hotchpot, including web and mobile access, regardless of your method of accessing Hotchpot. The activities and services offered by Hotchpot are collectively referred to as the "services."
By using Hotchpot's services or by otherwise giving us your personal information, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy and to be bound by its provisions. If you do not agree to the terms of, and to be bound by, this Privacy Policy, the Terms of Use (which incorporate this Privacy Policy) or any other provision set forth on or in the Hotchpot website or applications, as they may be amended from time to time, then you are not authorized to use the services in any way.

Hotchpot gathers a wide array of information from those who use its services and for the purpose of providing those services to its users (both lender and borrower, together referred to as "users") as well as to continue to improve Hotchpot's services. The information we gather from our users, whether via mobile devices or website (details on user's information captured by both website and mobile app are mentioned in section below), such as online registration, location tracking, or otherwise, helps us maintain safety protocols and personalize our users' experience, while continuously allowing us to improve the user experience. Some, but not all, of the types of information we gather from users may include sensitive personal information about you, including your full name, a current photograph, as well as information identifying the device you use to access the services, its IP address, your physical geographic location, and other information that Hotchpot deems necessary or desirable to provide, enhance, and improve the services and to maintain your account with Hotchpot accurately.
Without much of that information, Hotchpot shall not be able to provide the services to you that Hotchpot does, and will, take reasonable steps to ensure that this information remains secure and confidential as to third parties. By using the services, you represent and warrant that you are aware of this Privacy Policy, that you have the authority to provide us with any and all of the information that we may request from you, and that the information that you provide is materially accurate, to the best of your knowledge.
Hotchpot website may also use various technologies to gather information about your mobile phone model, brand, OS and software also may be automatically collected by Hotchpot. This information can include, but is not necessarily limited to: your IP address, the browser you are using to access Hotchpot.com, etc. This information may be used by Hotchpot for the operation of the services, to maintain and improve the quality of the services, and to provide general statistics to Hotchpot regarding you and other users' use of Hotchpot's services.
You are also free to use any social media aspect of Hotchpot, whether maintained as part of the Hotchpot platform or via third parties (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Google+, etc.). However, be advised that, by doing so, any personal information that you disclose, including your name, photo, details about your use of Hotchpot's services, etc., may be viewed and/or used by other users and as such is beyond Hotchpot's control.
Hotchpot may also collect information about you from third party sources such as google maps, google play store that helps Hotchpot to better attribute the data collected and present a more accurate matching for the book sharing among users. These sources include, but are not necessarily limited to, mediaSource, location and other users who use Hotchpot's services. We may also use the information that you provide to us for internal purposes, to improve Hotchpot's services, to promote Hotchpot, to advise other users, and to enhance safety and efficiency for our users. We collect different information from all the users, and all users must agree to add book details along with the front cover and back cover picture of the book prior to being accepted as a Hotchpot book lender. This information in its sole discretion, deems prudent to collect to provide the Hotchpot services and overall experience of those who use Hotchpot.
Hotchpot captures the following information from the users through the mobile app usage to ensure a quality service of the Hotchpot books sharing solution. The data points mentioned here are an indication of the type of data captured and are not limited to the ones mentioned here.

Information we gather about you is an important part of our business, and we need to collect this information to be able to provide the services to you as desired, efficiently, and effectively as possible. However, we are not in the business of selling your information to others. We use your personal information, including your email address and/or mobile telephone number, to contact you in connection with your use of Hotchpot's services. We may share this information with other Hotchpot users as necessary to arrange for you to use the services, and also for promotional services relating to Hotchpot.
For example, when you, as a borrower, use the Hotchpot mobile application to request a book from a lender, we will need to share information about your registered location, your profile picture and your contact details with the lender who is using the Hotchpot services. By using Hotchpot in this manner you are consenting to our use of this personal information about you. Similarly, if you are a lender using Hotchpot's services, we may share your registered location, your profile picture and contact details with a borrower using Hotchpot's services who is looking for a book you have listed to help coordinate the pick up and delivery of the book between the users. With regard to the financial information that you provide to Hotchpot, we will use that primarily to maintain your account with Hotchpot and to process financial transactions with applicable financial institutions. We will not share your personal financial information with other users of Hotchpot's services, but as stated above, other users may receive personal information about you including your name, your registered location, profile picture, etc.
By using Hotchpot's services you consent to our sharing this information with other users. We may also share your comments, whether as a lender or a borrower, about others who use the Hotchpot services, whether lender or a borrower, to improve their and your experience with Hotchpot. You will have the option to assist us in limiting the number of non-book sharing related communications you receive from us and we will do our best to honor your instructions to the extent we can do that and still provide you with the services as Hotchpot sees fit. We will also use the personal information you provide to us, via any platform, to provide suitable books as per your preference/availability and suggest potential matches from other users.
We may share your personal information with third-party service providers so they can provide Hotchpot with support services such as e-mail legal guardian or parents and such use is made available by the legal guardian or parents.
The Company will not be responsible for any consequence that arises as a result of misuse of any kind of our application or any of our products or services that may occur by virtue of any person including a minor registering for the services/products provided. By using the products or services you warrant that all the data provided by you is accurate and complete and that student using the application has obtained the consent of parent/legal guardian (in case of minors). The Company reserves the right to terminate your subscription and / or refuse to provide you with access to the products or services if it is discovered that you are under the age of 18 (eighteen) years and the consent to use the products or services is not made by your parent/legal guardian or any information provided by you is inaccurate. You acknowledge that the Company does not have the responsibility to ensure that you conform to the aforesaid eligibility criteria. It shall be your sole responsibility to ensure that you meet the required qualification. Any persons under the age of 18 should seek the consent of their parents/legal guardians before providing any information about themselves or their parents and other family members on the application.
Hotchpot provides all users with the ability to access and edit their respective personal information. To update personal info, navigate to your account in the Hotchpot mobile application, and enter your login and password. Once logged in, you may view, update and change your personal and account information on the profile page.
However, be advised that, in order for Hotchpot to maintain the integrity of the information that it must collect regarding its users and to take reasonable steps to enhance security and the users' experience with Hotchpot, there are certain data, including your full name that Hotchpot collects, that you cannot alter yourself. Hotchpot's databases automatically update any personal information you provide to Hotchpot. Any information that you provide to Hotchpot by any means (mobile, internet, e-mail, etc.) or that Hotchpot obtains from internal or third-party sources about its users, including you, is and shall remain, the property of Hotchpot.
To preserve the integrity of the information that Hotchpot receives from, and maintains regarding, its users, including you, and to comply with applicable statutes and regulations, Hotchpot maintains its databases and the personal information that you and all users provide for an indefinite length of time. By creating an account with Hotchpot and/or using Hotchpot's services, you consent to Hotchpot's use of your personal information and acknowledge that Hotchpot may maintain your information in one place for this indefinite length of time. Hotchpot will keep the user's information for a minimum of 10 years and may archive it based on Hotchpot's discretion.
Hotchpot may also archive users' accounts, including yours, and the information that Hotchpot maintains regarding those accounts, upon your written request. By using the services, you represent and warrant that you understand and agree that all information submitted by you to Hotchpot shall become and remain the property of Hotchpot and may be used in Hotchpot's sole discretion in accordance with this Privacy Policy and its Terms of Use.
To delete/deactivate your account, the user must send an email to connect@Hotchpot.in to request for deletion or de-activation of the user account.
Account deletion shall erase all the user details from the Hotchpot database. Users shall not be in the process of any active transaction for books on the Hotchpot when requesting for account delete/deactivate.
Account deactivation is a temporary suspension of an account and user details are retained in the database for future activation if required.
In case the user loses or reports a theft of the media device,mobile phone or any other form of device used to access Hotchpot profile with a request to hold, archive, block or delete Hotchpot profile, the user is required to submit a proper copy of official police report (FIR) reporting the loss of mobile phone or device. Hotchpot will only be able to take any action on blocking or barring the profile based on verification of the police report. Any loss of data or misuse of information from Hotchpot profile before the account is blocked or archived is not Hotchpot's responsibility.
This website, the application and the services are provided on an "as is" basis with all faults and without any warranty of any kind. The company hereby disclaims all warranties and conditions with regard to the website, application/products and the services, including without limitation, all implied warranties and conditions of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, accuracy, timeliness. performance, completeness, suitability and non-infringement. Additionally, the company shall not be liable for any damages arising out of or in connection with the use or performance of this site, or the application or the services. Your use of any information or materials on this website/application/services/products is entirely at your own risk, for which we shall not be liable. It shall be your own responsibility to ensure that services provided by us meet your specific requirements.
